The US Military M81 Woodland Camouflage Extreme Cold Weather Parka GEN I & II (GORE-TEX) was the most iconic and protective extreme cold weather jacket issued at the time. Depending on whether you need a highly insulated winter coat or a heavy-duty waterproof barrier shell to layer over fleece, the military uses different system layers.
If you want the traditional, rugged US Army surplus classic, this parka is the standard. Made from thick, heavy-duty 3-layer Gore-Tex fabric, it is completely waterproof, windproof, and designed with an oversized cut to fit over heavy fleece layers (not included). It features a large cobra hood built to clear combat helmets, underarm pit zippers for quick ventilation, a snow skirt to block icy drafts, and reinforced elbows.
