Atlanta Army Navy Supply Company was one of the nation’s largest surplus dealers since 1950. In the late 1980s, they started distributing equipment and clothing for the military, law enforcement, and civilians alike under their new Atlanco brand.

By 1996, Atlanco started manufacturing military and law enforcement clothing itself. This naturally evolved into the development of the Tru-Spec brand and its still popular 24-7 Series. After their original BDU clothing line developed for the military, Atlanco's Tru-Spec brand has now evolved into the premier tactical, public safety, EMS and duty apparel.

Meet Filson Clothing Fan, Kevin Ramsey

I've been a brand inspector for the state of Montana since 2002. Before this, I grew up and worked on ranches in southern Wyoming. I've always worked outside no matter what the weather. Up until about 9 years ago, I'd always relied on cotton layers covered by a heavy Carhart coat to stay warm.

My dad had told me about Filson clothes, but I'd never thought too much about it, until one day we were in Billings Army Navy Surplus and found a blue and black Filson Mackinaw coat on the discontinued rack. My dad and my wife talked me into buying it. It was a great looking jacket, but I figured it would just hang in the closet.

After the recent shooting tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, debates over Second Amendment rights have come to the forefront again. Foreseeing possible bans in the future, concerned citizens nationwide rushed to purchase AR-15 assault rifles before it was too late. As a result, firearms dealers of all sizes in the U.S. have completely sold out of anything to do with assault rifles, including many military models such as the M-16. (For those that don't already know, the M-16 is the military version of the civilian AR-15.)

While we do not sell firearms at Billings Army Navy Surplus, we do stock a large inventory of bayonets, slings, storage boxes, ammo boxes, cleaning kits, and magazine pouches. While we have seen a strong uptick in AR-15 accessories, our inventories remain strong. We support our Second Amendment rights in the U.S. Constitution and will continue to stock AR-15 and M-16 accessories. Here are some items of interest currently in stock:

Billings Army Navy Surplus has equipped many safaris over the years. Our good friend Rob Cline has been to Africa many times in the past. In September 2012, Rob invited Neal LaFever for a once in a lifetime trip to Africa to be his photographer.

Danner boots have always been a staple on safaris so we supplied Neal with a pair of Danner Melees. These boots are immediately comfortable — no breaking in necessary. Their sure footing makes them ideal for the rugged terrain of Africa. In fact, that's why many of our armed forces rely on this boot.

Well, we did it! After 31 years at the same location, we took a huge leap forward and undertook the monumental task of not only purchasing, but also moving into a new and larger facility that boasts 7,500 square feet of show room space. While moving is never fun, especially with the large and diverse inventory of about 10,000 different items we carry, we’re pleased that not only is the new store larger, it’s directly across the street from our original location. In fact, we shuttered the doors at the original site on February 10th at 11:59 AM, only to re-open them one minute later — 12:00 noon, at our new location, 10 N. 29th Street, Billings, Montana 59101.
